Exhibition: ‘Hayez. Un Capolavoro Ritrovato’
About the exhibition
The exhibition ‘Hayez. Un Capolavoro Ritrovato’ (Hayez, a found again work of art, in English) held on the prestigious backdrop of GAM – Milan’s Modern Art Gallery traces the series of paintings dedicated to Valenza Gradenigo by Romantic painter Francesco Hayez. Valenza Gradenigo is an important character of the Venetian history of the 17th century, considered particular noteworthy for the interest for the city of Venice, its sceneries, atmospheres and passion stories that took place in this very city, that have long inspired the production of Romantic artists. The exhibition gathers for the first time four different versions of the same subject, including also the last, never-before-displayed version that has recently been re-discovered and attributed to Hayez. Differences and similarities between the different versions are shown and analysed throughout the exhibition.
