Exhibition: ‘Paul Klee. Alle Origini dell’Arte’
About the exhibition
The interest for everything ‘ancient’ and related to the prehistoric culture is a cornerstone in the whole production of Paul Klee. It is not mere chance that the monographic exhibition dedicated to the 20th-century artist starts right from the theme of prehistoric art, with a specific focus on Egypt at the time of Pharaons, on the barbarian civilizations and on the Early Christian days, up to the African, Amerindian and Oceanian art.
The exhibition features a selection of around 100 masterpieces coming from important international museums and institutions. The works on exhibit include parodies, spoofs and works of sacred art, as well as paintings and drawings inspired by the theme of metaphysics and cosmic measurements. The different sections of the exhibition analyse the various themes that have contributed in the definition of Klee’s figurative style, as well as a focus on the evolution of his personality as an artist and as a man throughout his career.
