About the Exhibition
Event organized within the amazing Gallerie d’Italia-Piazza Scala museum.
An exhibition whose aim is to show the contribution from the Italian (in particular Milanese) visual artists to the European movement of Romanticism, approximately started in the late 18th century. Italy is one of those European nations that reacted to the Romantic era with the Realism movement, which started with the unification of the country in 1861.
The Poldi Pezzoli house museum (a not to be missed location in the Fashion Quadrilatero!) also hosts a part of this exhibition.
Featured Italian artists: Francesco Hayez, Giuseppe Molteni, Giovanni Carnevali detto Il Piccio, Massimo d’Azeglio, Giovanni Migliara, Angelo Inganni, Giuseppe and Carlo Canella, Ippolito Caffi, Salvatore Fergola, Giacinto Gigante, Pitloo, Domenico Girolamo Induno. And sculptors Lorenzo Bartolini, Pietro Tenerani, and Vincenzo Vela.
Featured European artists: Caspar David Friedrich, Franz Ludwig Catel, Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, William Turner, Friedrich von Amerling, Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller, and Karl Pavlovič Brjullov.

Open Tue-Sun from 9.30am to 7.30pm; open until 10.30pm on Thursdays
Last admission: 1 hour prior to closing time.
Regular ticket: 10€, reductions available (you can access both the temporary
and the permanent exhibitions with one ticket)
